Who can become a member?Children ages 5-18 with special needs.

What activities do you do during the Zoom meetings?Activities during the meetings are flexible and completely your choice! Activities are coordinated between you and your Buddy, with the assistance of our team. Some possible activities include playing games with your Buddy, reading books together, academic tutoring, or even just chatting! Our Buddies are prepared to lead different Zoom activities. ​

Who are the Buddies?Compassionate high school students trained to work with children with special needs on Zoom. All Buddies go through training slides, and we verify the identity of each Buddy to ensure safety for our members.

How do we match you to your Buddy?While it is not guaranteed, we try our best to match each member with a Buddy who shares similar interests. On the Sign Up form, you are able to indicate any preferences for your Buddy.

How often do you and your Buddy meet? How long is each meeting?Scheduling is flexible and based on both you and your Buddy's availability. We recommend that you meet once a week. The meeting length varies and is based on each child's needs.

Are parents allowed to accompany their child during the meetings?Yes! Parents are welcome to join if they wish.

Earn volunteer hours by becoming a Buddy for Be My Buddy! Buddies are an integral part of our program. Each Buddy will be matched with a child to lead various activities over weekly Zoom meetings. All volunteering is virtual. Please note this is a voluntary unpaid position.

To become a volunteer, please fill out an application. All volunteers are expected to be mature, highly motivated, and willing to learn.
